CANADA DAY LUNCHEON WITH ACTING CONSUL GENERAL, DOUGLAS GEORGE
Douglas George covers Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas and will speak about the Canadian perspectives on the economic, trade and political relations with the United States in general, and with Louisiana in particular. With the signing of the USMCA, the successor to NAFTA, on November 30, 2018, we are now in the ratification process for this agreement in all three countries. This new agreement will provide certainty for this extremely large and important bilateral trading relationship in areas of agriculture, petroleum and energy products, manufactured goods and direct investments. Beyond trade, Canada has long and deep ties with the United States in matters of defence and security and it shares with Louisiana unique French cultural ties going back centuries.
